This is the return leg of an epic journey undertaken by Class 20s, 20311+20314 in March 2020. The day had started at Leicester, running to Long Marston to collect a rake of Mk III coaches, destined for scrap at Sims Metals in Newport. This is the return journey to Leicester. We see the full journey from Newport Docks, through to the outskirts of Birmingham. The 20s are worked very hard indeed!

This is the return leg of an epic journey undertaken by Class 20s, 20311+20314 in March 2020. The day had started at Leicester, running to Long Marston to collect a rake of Mk III coaches, destined for scrap at Sims Metals in Newport. This is the return journey to Leicester.

This cab ride is filmed on board 20314 and shows the full journey from the docks at Newport, through to Kings Norton – just outside of Birmingham. With two barrier coaches in tow, the 20s are worked hard, keeping to a 75mph schedule, passing along the banks of the River Severn, Gloucester, Cheltenham and climbing the Lickey.

This may well be a familiar route – featured before – but the use of Class 20s in the year 2020 was something extra special!

Filmed with the full permission of ROG, there is part-narration, maps and on-screen captions and a thrash cam records the action from the cab of the rear loco.
