Description
Bristol Rovers have, to date, only scored eight goals once in a League game: December 1st 1973 at Brighton. As luck would have it, in an age of limited TV coverage, it was Brian Moore’s principal game on The Big Match that weekend, so you can see every golden goal (Warboys 4, Bannister 3, Fearnley) in a stunning 8-2 win. One of the highlights of the return to Division Two was an outstanding 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Eastville (September 1974). Two more Warboys goals, and a superb debut by Phil Bater, helped Rovers beat a team that finished the season back in the top flight and with the League Cup in their trophy cabinet.
