The fourth cab ride in the Greater Anglia series features the Great Eastern mainline in its entirety – London Liverpool Street to Norwich – filmed on board a Class 745 electric unit.

Electrification of the 115-mile GEML was completed in 1987 and from cascaded Class 86s and Mk II stock, followed by Class 90s and Mk III stock, in 2020 Greater Anglia introduced brand new purpose built 12-coach EMUs to operate the 30-minute all day service. With a top speed of 100mph, London to Norwich can be achieved in just 100-minutes.

We board 745003 working the 14.00 from Liverpool Street on a fine summer’s day, calling at Colchester, Manningtree, Ipswich and Diss.

It’s a journey of contrasts. From the multi-track layout around Stratford to the open fields of Stowmarket and Diss, we pass dozens of other trains and many stations, speeding our way to Norfolk.

Filmed in summer 2022 this was one of a number of routes filmed for Greater Anglia for driver training and route learning. Includes part-narration, on-screen captions, maps and live cab sounds.
