Having explored the spectacular majesty of the south-west in thirteen films on Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire, we now venture across the country to commence a two part series on the glorious county of Norfolk. Join Henry Buckton and the 1st Take team as we reveal the heritage and culture of beautiful West Norfolk, which is famous for its landscape of fens, forests and a hugely attractive coastline. In terms of history it boasts castles, abbeys and other important structures, and its towns and villages have been home to some remarkable industries and individuals. Our tour starts at Downham Market, and highlights along the way include visits to King’s Lynn – the area’s biggest town, which is rich in maritime heritage – the elegant Victorian seaside resort of Hunstanton, Lord Nelson’s birthplace at Burnham Thorpe, charming Wells Next The Sea and Walsingham Abbey, a major medieval pilgrimage site. Thetford is packed with places of interest, including the quirky Dad’s Army Museum, and you will also enjoy visits to Fakenham, with its unusual Museum of Gas and Local History, Swaffham’s links to Howard Carter and the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, Dereham, Attleborough and much more. Enjoy the journey!
