With a unique collection of rare cine-film from the 1930s to the 1960s, a selection of old photos, and the archives of local newspapers, this superb DVD brings to life the Cornwall of old. It explores many aspects of Cornwall’s rich heritage including the heyday of its fishing industry, the colourful days of the smuggling trade and the extraordinary courage of its lifeboat crews; the coming of the railway and the subsequent invasion by Victorian holiday-makers; the impact of the motor car, and some unique Cornish customs such as the Helston Furry Dance and the Padstow ‘Obby Oss’.

The DVD also recalls some of the memorable events of the 20th century including, the centenary of the Tamar railway bridge, the last days of the Saltash ferry, the final voyage of the Cutty Sark from Falmouth, and the Penlee lifeboat tragedy.
