Description
The station in the Hertfordshire village of Biggleswade sits astride one of the fastest stretches of the ECML. This location inspired a group of Middlesbrough-based modellers to recreate the former GNR/LNER station in ‘00’ gauge and in superb detail, as it existed in 1964. Once again, the model layout is compared with the ‘real thing’ through the use of both archive and modern film.
Full description from the producer:
In the second of the Classic Model Railway Layouts series we thrill to the sights and sounds of the East Coast Main Line as reproduced in miniature by the Biggleswade Model Railway Group.
This 4mm scale ‘OO’ gauge East Coast mainline layout has been painstakingly researched and constructed by a group of modellers in the North East and features the four-track station, its goods yard and environs.
Set in the 1950s, Biggleswade features A4 Pacifics on express passenger trains, and prototype length freight trains alongside early BR diesel locomotives and DMUs.
Archive and current day film complements the model action!
