Description

In this film, captured in August 2023, 37418 is heading back to Derby from the Scottish Highlands with Saloon ‘Caroline’. At the same time, an MPV that had been working in the area needed to be hauled to Derby for maintenance, so the three vehicles were coupled. From Carlisle the train was routed via the S & C and the first part of the journey is shown here, running through to Skipton.

Carlisle to Skipton via Ribblehead and Settle.

37418 needs no introduction and in addition to its regular work with ‘Caroline’ and tripping wagons to/from Toton, the loco occasionally hauls something bizarre, and one such working is featured on this cab ride!

Heading back to Derby from the Scottish Highlands with ‘Caroline’, the consist was booked to stable overnight in Carlisle. At the same time, an MPV that had been working in the area needed to be hauled to Derby for maintenance – so the three vehicles were coupled: 37418+975025+DR98008!

This is a cab ride on board 37418, filmed in August 2023. Running as Class 6, with mixed passenger/goods vehicles, from Carlisle the train was routed via the S & C and the first part of the journey is shown here, running over this scenic railway and through to Skipton. The journey is shown in full, with all the viaducts, stations, tunnels, traditional signal boxes and semaphore signals, all wrapped up in the hills and mountains. As usual – for 2023 – it was four seasons in one day with glorious sunshine, cloud, near-monsoon conditions, then dry, bright and sunny again!

Includes maps, on-screen captions and minimal narration. A thrash cam in the back cab records the loco at work and ambient sounds.
