Description

Small is beautiful, as the saying goes, and England’s smallest county certainly has some of the most beautiful villages in the country. In this programme we visit many of Rutland’s little gems and discover some unusual locations. Explore such treats as Lyddington, Exton, Burley-on-the- Hill, Barrowden, South Luffenham, Seaton, Stoke Dry, Belemesthorpe, Tickencote and Whissendine.

The county of Rutland was first mentioned in the twelfth century and exists once more after breaking away from the Leicestershire merger of the 1970s. ‘Small is beautiful’, as the saying goes and England’s smallest county certainly has some of the most beautiful villages in England. In this DVD we explore some of the villages around the county of Rutland, seeking out its unusual locations and discovering its intriguing past. Join us in our look at a wide range of locations, including Whissendine where we call in to see the old windmill in operation and the now closed pork pie business in the village.

We also visit Rutland Water to hear of its mysteries and possible connection with Robin Hood! Many other villages and picturesque scenes are included in this unique and beautifully filmed production.
