Description
Filmed over many years, this majestic legacy demonstrates the fascination of steam power and allows us to enjoy again the Glory of Steam on LNER lines. The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) was the major railway serving the Eastern area of Great Britain, with its lines covering East Anglia, Yorkshire, Northumberland and the Scottish coast to Aberdeen. Its wide variety of steam locomotives – which included the most famous and fastest of all time "Flying Scotsman" and "Mallard" – is well represented today in the world of preservation and on the main lines of British Rail.
Locomotives featured in this programme:
Mallard, Flying Scotsman, Union of South Africa, Sir Nigel Gresley, Blue Peter, Sandwich, Flying Fox, Mayflower, Butler Henderson. B12 4-6-0, K1 and K4 2-6-0’s, N2 and N7 0-6-2’s, J17, J27 and J52 0-6-0’s and many more.
