The Big Freight Series reaches No.30 and it’s another action-packed three hours of freight train footage from around Britain. With more 69s entering traffic, the Class 93s on their way, more wagons, new flows and lots of new liveries, there’s certainly never a dull day in freight-land!

This edition includes:

Ely: The third part of our look at Freight across the fens features the location of Ely. With five lines merging either side of the station, a station avoider and numerous container trains heading east/west, this is a popular Freightmaster hotspot. Various moves and trains are shown plus a visit to Eccles Road with the weekly stone train hauled by ex-works 66652.

Trent Valley: Continuing our look at freight on the WCML we visit Lichfield and Tamworth in the Trent Valley with numerous flows and locos featured, including some bizarre workings!

Five Yards: Part One: Healey Mills: Once part of the BR Modernisation scheme, in the last 20-years the yard here has fallen into disrepair but may have a bright future. A look at the situation as of spring 2024 with freight passing either side.

Chesterfield and Clay Cross: A visit to two Freightmaster hotspots looking at a typical day of passing freight.

West Highland Freight: The line to Fort William may well be one of the most scenic in the country but there is only one freight train – The Alcan tanks! This is a GB Class 66 hauled flow, with 4-wheeled PCA wagons, running to/from North Blyth. Stunning aerial footage shows the train in Horseshoe Curve and various locations along the line plus the move at the Alcan plant itself.

Plus: Triple 56s on the timber; freight at Bescot, Swindon, Preston, Sutton Park plus ECML 56s and Scottish engineers trains showing track renewal and rail drops.
