Description
The East Suffolk line is a 49-mile railway which runs from Ipswich to the seaside town of Lowestoft. Passing through many traditional market towns and small villages, across open fields and farmland, there is a mixture of single and double track running.
The line has been upgraded and resignalled in recent years. The signal box at Saxmundham controls most of the line, with some fine stations, level crossings and traditional infrastructure including Oulton Broad swing bridge. The normal off-peak service is hourly.
This line probably isn’t that well known for its gradients but as seen, there are some short sharp climbs, which the 755 manages with ease!
This journey was filmed in August 2022 on board a three-car Class 755 bi-mode multiple unit as part of a series of cab filming carried out for Greater Anglia.
The entire journey is shown from Ipswich to Lowestoft with bonus footage featuring highlights of the journey in the opposite direction.
Narration, on-screen captions, maps and live cab sounds.
