Jump into the cab of East Anglian workhorse BR Standard Class 7, No. 70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell’ as it recreates the old expresses such as the East Anglian, Boardsman and Norfolkman. From Liverpool Street along the mainline to Shenfield, the route takes in Bethnal Green Bank, a water stop at Colchester, Ipswich and Diss before terminating at Norwich. The first of our Eastern Region editions takes us along the old Great Eastern Mainline, recreating the old expresses such as the East Anglian, Boardsman and Norfolkman, behind a locomotive that was synonymous with this route.

Beginning our journey from London Liverpool Street, we tackle the steep climb of Bethnal Green Bank before gently climbing out of the capital along the 4 track Mainline to Shenfield. After this we continue north where we will be stretching our legs along the open countryside, speeding towards Colchester for our waterstop. After this we continue towards Ipswich, passing through Diss and on to our final destination at Norwich.

With live sound recorded from the locomotive, we bring the action right to you. This program also features commentary titles & locations, along with driver’s commentary, lineside shots & footplate footage.
