The Ironstone districts (such as Northamptonshire) saw some of the most delightful and attractive industrial railways running along the edges of fields, through small woods and the heart of the countryside. Ironstone Lines of the East Midlands – Ivo Peters’ love of railways was widespread. Not only did he cover the famous main lines and well-know minor railways in his 16mm colour cine film collection, but he also delved into the realms of industrial steam where fascinating small and no-so-small engines performed the vital tasks of British industry. Probably one of the least known areas was that of the Ironstone districts (such as Northamptonshire) where some of the most delightful and attractive industrial railways of the whole country ran along the edges of fields, through small woods and the heart of the countryside to the connecting lines with British Railways.

This is the first visit to the Iron Lines in the Ivo Peters Collection covering an area from Oxfordshire in the west to Lincolnshire in the east. They had a charm of their own, known only a to a few. Here we see a great variety from the narrow gauge at Kettering to the standard gauge at Wroxton (sometimes known simply as “O.I”) which also boasted double track, signals and signal boxes. Originally released in 1988, this volume has been totally remastered i.e. the pictorial material has now been prepared from the original 1″ tape, transferred to digital betacam and then remastered. Some minor picture and sound editing has taken place to enhance this very popular volume in our series.
