Description from supplier: Full Coverage of the Spring Steam Gala Event at the Swanage Railway in March 2017. Action from the five Bulleid Pacifics along the whole line from Worgret to Swanage and use of Standard tank No. 80146 in and around Swanage station. A perfect record of a perfect Gala. An extra special programme to celebrate the Strictly Bulleid Spring Gala at the Swanage Railway. Timed to commemorate the end of steam on the Southern Region of BR in July 1967, the Swanage Railway arranged for five Bulleid light pacifics to operate an intensive service over three days on 31st March to 2nd April 2017. With the branch line through Purbeck now operational as far as Frome river bridge near Worgret, some stunning scenes were possible on this new section and the Bulleids certainly showed their paces! The collection of locomotives was carefully planned to bring in engines from all over Britain. West Country Class No. 34092 City of Wells had the longest journey by road from Bury in Lancashire. With Battle of Britain Class Nos. 34053 Sir Keith Park and 34081 92 Squadron coming in from the Severn Valley Railway and Nene Valley Railway. Final contestants were Battle of Britain Class No. 34070 Manston, one of the home fleet at Swanage and main line runner West Country Class No. 34046 Braunton, currently running as 34052 Lord Dowding. Full sequences of operations over the three days between Swanage and Frome bridge and with permission from the Swanage Railway, mostly line-side footage. The dvd includes the top-and-tailed trains from Norden to the extent of the line to Worgret. Standard tank No. 80104 has been given the guise of No. 80146 in commemoration of that locomotive?s last days on the depot list at Bournemouth in 1967. We see it piloting stock around Swanage and on goods trains.
